Applications for the minor program in Economics are only accepted for the Fall Semester. The application period is in Summer. Please check the Academic Calendar for the exact dates. Applicants should make sure to send their most up-to-date transcript, including their Summer semester grades if they have attended with their application form to econminor@bogazici.edu.tr. Students majoring in Economics can apply (if they meet the requirements) to the minor programs offered by the following departments: Management, Political Science and International Relations, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering (Operations Research or Production and Service Systems). Please contact those departments if you have specific questions.
In this context, the Department of Economics offers a minor degree program for students majoring in any other department. Students who satisfy the relevant requirements can apply to enroll in the Economics Minor Program. Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a minor certificate. This is not a substitute for a diploma.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. A GPA of at least 3.00.
2. Being on your 3rd semester at earliest, 6th semester at latest.
3. Having completed the prerequisite courses successfully.
Prerequisite Courses:
EC101 Principles of Microeconomics (3 credits)
EC102 Principles of Microeconomics (3 credits)
MATH101 Calculus I (4 credits) (or MATH 106 Introduction to Calculus for Social Sciences (4 credits))

4 Required Courses:
EC203 Microeconomics I (3 credits)
EC205 Macroeconomics I (3 credits)
EC206 Microeconomics II (3 credits)
EC208 Macroeconomics II (3 credits)
2 Elective Courses:
These are selected from the EC coded courses, except EC213, EC223 and EC233, listed in the undergraduate catalog of the Economics Department, subject to the approval of the minor degree advisor.
Important: Students whose own major programs include EC203 and EC205 as required courses have to take two courses, instead of EC203 and EC205, among the following ones: EC234, EC331, EC332, EC351, EC352, EC361, EC362, EC306, EC308, EC411, EC412, EC470, EC471.
Students can register up to two minor program courses simultaneously as electives in their major program.
The applications will be taken once a year before the Fall semester. Each year, an announcement about the application period is made on our web page about a month before the university-wide deadline. Starting 2022, the applications for minor programs are also accepted through the OBIKAS system.
